I believe that humans have a critical role in the natural systems that support life on this planet. As species we are given great power and coupled with great responsibility to act in a beneficial way toward the systems that support all life. The great challenge is to find ways to accomplish this and to share our successes and failures with others that want join this effort.

Our first goal is to provide a place for others to enjoy the riches that we enjoy - the multitude of wildlife, the night sky ablaze with stars, the chorus of frogs, the waves of migrating birds. These are riches freely given us that we want to share with others and pass along to the next generation.

The second goal is preserve 85% of property in open prairie, farm and forestland with permanent conservation easements.

The third goal is to provide a place for people to learn and share their knowledge and talents. We have many visitors and educational field trips that use the farm now and we would like to expand this.

The fourth goal is to reserve 15% of the property for people. This area would be a mix of habitat lands, camp grounds, food service, lodging, educational facilities, and retail sales of products related to a nature reserve. The ruling guideline for all activity on the farm is that they are mutually beneficial and compatible with a nature reserve.
